Danly, Richard Ellison 'Dick'
Richard Ellison “Dick” Danly, 77, died Friday, April 26, 2013, in his Mechanicsville home. Dick's funeral will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, by Celebrant Mary Morgan at Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choices, Mount Vernon, where the family will greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in West Prairie Cemetery, rural Spring Grove Township, (2.5 E. Paris, Iowa).
Surviving Dick are his children, Rick (Teresa) Danly, and Rebecca (David) Sawyer, all of Cedar Rapids, and Chris (Dave) Pease of Walker; five grandchildren, Melissa Danly (Jesse Royse), Ryan (Stephanie) Danly, Kurtis Cornell, Daniel Pease, and Tanner Pease; and one great-granddaughter, Kennedy Danly. Also surviving are Jean Britcher's children, Lorna, Scott, Brent, and Kirk.
Preceding Dick in death are his parents; a brother, Jim; two sisters, Betty Conrad and Marianne Bohr; granddaughter, Stacey Danly; special friend, Jean Britcher; and her children, Cheryl and Kory.
Dick was born March 30, 1936, in Mechanicsville, the son of James and Muriel Spoor Danly. He married JoAnn Hagerman Oct. 2, 1954, in Cedar Rapids. They were divorced. He was a Union Teamster truck driver since 1968, retiring in 1995. Dick was also involved in Dick's Taxidermy and Dick's Tree Service.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and taxidermy, and he had a passion for horses. He was an honest and conscientious man, a man who was always there for his family. Dick was a wonderful father, grandfather, and friend. Dick lived life to its fullest!
A memorial fund in Dick's honor has been established.
