JOHN JAY MORGAN

John Jay Morgan, 68, of Palo, passed away Monday, Oct. 3, 2016, at his home, following a short illness. Friends may visit with the family from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, at Teahen Funeral Home.
John was born Oct. 23, 1947, in Cedar Rapids, and was raised by his grandparents, Roy and Lucille Bolton; his aunt, Roberta (Clyde) Meyer of Monticello; his uncle, John (Pat) Bolton of Cedar Rapids; and uncles, Bob and Warren Bolton.
John is survived by his four children, Jim, Diane, Kelly and Travis.
On Aug. 28, 1976, John married Kathleen Ann Hill and her four children, Susan Short of Cedar Rapids, Peggy (Randy) Turner of Clinton, Penny (Alan) Carlson of Lowden and Douglas (Theresa) Hill of Cedar Rapids; eight grandsons, three granddaughters and three great-grandchildren.
Together, John and Kathy owned and operated John's Automotive for 22 years, and then he owned and operated Cedar Hill's Repair until the time of his illness.
John enjoyed fishing, gardening, spending time at his and Kathleen's cabin in Guttenberg and being with friends and family.
