Rochester, Minn.

David James Seavy, 59, of Rochester, Minn., died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017, at his home. A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, Feb. 18, at Rochester Cremation Services in Rochester. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Pastor Josh Johnson will officiate. Burial will be at a later date.

David was born Sept. 16, 1957, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to James and Donna (Williams) Seavy. He graduated from Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids and Brown Institute of Broadcasting in Minneapolis.

David's work and enjoyment included DJ, mortician, small electronics and computer repair, and owner of the SpyShop. He worked extensively with people suffering from brain injuries, volunteering with the Red Cross, operated a radio station, had a passion for ham radio, and wrote many articles discussing a wide array of topics.

Survivors include his mother, Donna Seavy of South Bend, Ind.; sons, Michael David Seavy of Minneapolis and Nicholas Aaron Seavy of Rochester; sister, Teresa (Edward) Maginn of South Bend, Ind.; his wife, Brittany Stadum; and nieces and nephews, Grace Maginn, Jake Maginn, Emma Maginn and Teddy Maginn, all from South Bend.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Seavy; and his grandparents.

Dave was a very compassionate person whose main focus was being a good friend, relative, counselor and caregiver. His primary concern was others.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Heartland Hospice or Camp Companion Animal Shelter.
