Police: Man sexually abused young girl in Iowa City for years
An Arkansas man was arrested and returned to Iowa City last week and charged with sexually abusing a girl.
Police said Travis L. Porter, 42, was arrested on Dec. 11 in Osceola. He is accused of molesting a girl from the time she was 6 or 8 until she was 12, in Iowa City between the years of 1998 to 2003.
Police said Porter threatened the girl by saying he would harm her family if she told them what he was doing. On one occasion when the girl tried to prevent him from touching her, he grabbed her by the throat.
Porter was charged with second-degree sexual abuse. He is in the Johnson County Jail on a $15,000 cash-only bond.
