Letter: Most people helped during the flood

Kudos and praise for the way Cedar Rapids pulled together to combat the flood. Public service, volunteers, business and homeowners, National Guard, and support from other counties, all showed what the Midwest is all about. Pitching in and helping when needed. To all, a very heartfelt thank you.
Local officials, due to the congestion that was bound to happen on Interstate 380, requested traffic to stay out of the north and south left lanes to allow emergency vehicles to get across quickly. They also requested to please do not slow down over the river for sightseeing. They should be praised for the foresight in this situation.
However, something needs to be said about the few self-centered and entitled individuals among us. Several people believed that their time was more important than anyone else's and that the left lane was open for them to use.
Fortunately, we have more thoughtful and considerate people than the inconsiderate ones listed above.
