Alberta Lou Vining was born June 12, 1928, in Aurora, Neb., the daughter of Louis and Mae Vining. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines. Later, she received her degree in interior design technology, graduating with honors from Kirkwood Community College in 1986. Even before she earned her degree, she was doing interior design work for Pat Harding Construction Co., and for years she worked for Hamm's Hearth and Home in Iowa City.
Bert was a longtime member of First Christian Church, Iowa City Women's Auxiliary, Homebuilders Association and numerous other organ-izations and involvements over the years.
She enjoyed so much in life, traveling around the world with her family, cooking for family and friends, family history and line dancing. She liked to dance, and to share her passion of dancing with everyone.
But most of all, she loved her family and friends. A more devoted friend, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother would be hard to find!
Her family includes her late husband of over 67 years, Ronald "Pat"; their children, Ron Harding Jr. (Mary) of Chandler, Ariz., Robert Harding (Sara) of Platteville, Wis., Suzanne Galea (John) of Terra Haute, Ind., Cathleen Chapman (Art) of Lone Tree and Richard Harding of Waimea, Kauai; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; Bert's brother, Lou Vining; and sister, Louise Jacobsen.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Pat.
