Orr resigns as football coach at Mount Vernon

MOUNT VERNON - Duane Orr confirmed Wednesday he has resigned as head football coach at Mount Vernon after seven seasons.Mount Vernon made the state playoffs in 2012 but finished 4-5 in 2013. Four of those five losses came by a total of 13 points.Orr deferred comment on his resignation to the Mount Vernon administration and school board. He is an at-large board of directors member of the Iowa Football Coaches Association."A very frustrating, aggravating situation," he said.A call to Mount Vernon Athletics Director Joe Wallace was not immediately returned.
