Lois Cronbaugh Hamann, 93, passed away Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018, at the Keystone Care Center.
Lois was born Sept. 3, 1925, on the family farm in Honey Creek Township, Iowa County, Iowa, near Kozta, to Clifford and Margery (Hay) Cronbaugh. She was united with Harlan Hamann in marriage on June 19, 1946. To them were born four children, Allen, Beverly, Janis and Lori. Harlan died Jan. 25, 2006. Later in life, Lois also had a special friend, Bernard Burry of Cedar Rapids, who died May 21, 2012.
Along with raising four children and working tirelessly both in the farmhouse and outside with the crops and livestock, Lois enjoyed numerous friendships built around softball, bowling, golf, card club, church events and holiday get-togethers. Bowling was her top activity for over 50 years, including teaching junior bowling at the Turners.
Survivors include her son, Allen, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and daughters, Beverly Gibson of Lakewood, Colo., Janis Easton of Harlan, Iowa, and Lori Hamann-Mekis of Centennial, Colo. In addition, Lois had five grandchildren, Heather Hamann of Dallas, Texas, Bradley Hamann of San Antonio, Texas, Eric Hamann of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Stacee Novotny of Denver, Colo., and Lisa Dyer of Justin, Texas; and six great-grandchildren.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; and all seven of her siblings, Norma Slaymaker, Cecil Cronbaugh, Doris Danskin, Evelyn Schmidt, Merle Cronbaugh, Marilyn Miller and Esther Fitzgibbon.
Services will be Wednesday, Oct. 17, at Salem United Methodist Church in Van Horne, with visitation at 10 a.m. and Celebration of Life at 11 a.m. Pastor Leonard Ranson will officiate and a luncheon will follow.
