Nathan E. Mallams, 24, of Coralville, died Monday, May 29, 2017, in rural Mount Pleasant.
Visitation will begin after noon Friday, June 2, at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant. Following visitation, Nate's body will be cremated. Gifts of love and friendship may be given to The Fellowship Cup or Forever Dogs, an animal shelter in Cedar Rapids.

Born Feb. 9, 1993, in Burlington, Iowa, Nathan Emmanuel was the son of John B. and Lori Jean Gerig Mallams. He was a 2011 graduate of Mount Pleasant Community High School. Following high school, he attended Indian Hills Community College, graduating with honors in computer programming. Since graduating, Nate had been using his skills while working for Twin State Technical Services in Davenport as a software engineer.
A talented musician, Nate had a huge love for music. He was a gifted guitar player. Known for his kind spirit and his love of animals, he was intelligent, sweet and often for the underdog.
Those sharing in Nate's life were his father, John (Teresa) Mallams of Mount Pleasant; his mother, Lori Mallams of North Liberty; a brother, Josh (Jessica Carkhuff) of New London; a half sister, Sara Elizabeth Unger of Burlington; a stepsister, Angie (Justin) Hayes of Littleton, Colo.; and a stepbrother, Matt Mertens of Mount Pleasant. He also is survived by his paternal grandfather, Marvin Mallams of Mount Pleasant; and his maternal grandmother, Marikay Gerig of Mount Pleasant.
Nate was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Phyllis Mallams; and his maternal grandfather, Allen Gerig.
