Goodwin, Gregory Kent 'Smutt' (Young)
Gregory Kent “Smutt” (Young) Goodwin, 56, of Fairfax, died Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010. Memorial service: 3 p.m. Monday at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where the family will greet friends one hour before the service. Jim May will officiate.
Survivors include his son, Trent (Kathy Straw) Hoppe; longtime companion, Robyn Meyers; father, George E. Goodwin and stepmother Rosella; stepfather, Henry Metz; his siblings, Sybil Merfeld, Lori (Jack) Metz, James Craig (Hope) Young, Robert (Eleanor) Roberts, Karen (Wayne) Imhoff, Richard Roberts, Larry (Debbie) Roberts, Judy (Bob) Hough, Virginia (Gary) Wiltsey, Cindy (Jeff) Ringgold, Jody (Ron) Kositzky, Peggy (Willie) Harrell, George (Lori) Goodwin, Herb Goodwin and Leo (Karen) Goodwin; and 47 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Cleo Darlene Metz; a sister, Lynda Berg; and two brothers, his twin, Garth Goodwin and Henry Young.
Gregory was born March 29, 1953, the son of George and Darlene (Teneyck) Goodwin, in Vinton, Iowa. He worked in roofing construction.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
