Magnuson, Robert C.

Robert C. Magnuson, 96, a resident of the Hiawatha Care Center, died there on Monday, Dec. 16, 2013. Per Robert's request, there will be no service or visitation. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include a daughter, Rita (Richard) Olson of Cedar Rapids; and son, Cliff (Cynthia) of Jupiter, Fla.

He is also survived by four grandchildren, Chris and Chad Magnuson and Ryan and Rhett Olson; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife.

Bob was born Aug. 30, 1917, in Auburndale, Wis., the son of John and Amanda Magnuson. He married Laura Belle Bush on Oct. 12, 1940, in Chicago. Laura passed away in 1997.

Bob was a technician in the special services department at AT & T for 28 years, retiring in 1971.

Bob was a ham radio operator and was the type of person who could fix anything he put his mind to. He enjoyed woodworking, time spent with his family and proudly served in the Navy during World War II.
