Herman, Reda Laura Yeries
Reda Laura Yeries Herman, 98, of Swisher, died Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 7, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Burial will follow in Anderson Cemetery near Swisher. Visitation will be from 2 until 5 p.m. Sunday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids.
Reda was born Aug. 25, 1913, to William M. and Laura Fay (Pirkl) Yeries on a farm at Sugar Bottom. She was a graduate of Shueyville High School. Reda married Joseph Dan Herman on Aug. 22, 1932, at the Linn County Courthouse in Cedar Rapids. She was employed by Colonial Bakery and later by Peter Pan Bakery. She and her husband were hired hands for several farmers in the Fairfax and Swisher areas.
Reda is survived by an uncle, Leo Yeries of Cedar Rapids; and an aunt, Mrs. Lawrence (Lottie) Yeries of Hills.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff at Evergreen Estates I and also the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.
