Roehlk, Laura M.
Laura M. Roehlk, 87, died peacefully at her home in Fitchburg, Wis., on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009.
She was born Nov. 27, 1921, in Madison, Wis., the daughter of Fern and Jesse Sharp. She grew up in Elkader, Iowa. She graduated from Coe College, Cedar Rapids, with a B.A. degree in economics. She enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II. She spent most of her adult life in Cedar Rapids, working for Rockwell-Collins as an industrial engineer.
She is survived by her two children, Richard Roehlk and Susan Roehlk (John Hayward); one grandson, Sam Bolton; three stepgrandchildren, Stacey Zudock (Jeff Zudock), Jeff Hayward (Melanie Hayward) and Jill Hayward (Jayson Preston); and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Roehlk.
A gravesite memorial service will be held sometime in the spring in Elkader.
