Laura Emma Snyder, 86, of Onslow, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016, at Anamosa Care Center.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at Zion American Lutheran Church in Wyoming. Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, at Lahey Funeral Home in Wyoming. Burial will be at South Mineral Cemetery, rural Onslow.
Laura Emma Dirks was born Nov. 28, 1929, in Amber, Iowa, to George and Lena (Belkin) Dirks. She married John Snyder on Oct. 10, 1949. She was a homemaker and a cook for the Onslow grade school. She was a member of Zion American Lutheran Church, Wyoming.
Laura was a member of the Cozy Cotton Club. She loved to cook and bake bread and rolls. She loved spending time with family, and especially enjoyed her grandkids and going to their sporting events. She also liked to ride motorcycles with her friends.
She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. She was the nicest lady in town.
Those left to cherish her memories are her five children: Dr. Thomas John (LuAnne) Snyder of Bettendorf, Nancy Ann Snyder-Gile of Wyoming, Cindy (Mike) Inglis of Wyoming, Scott (Sheryl) Snyder of Monticello and Dan (Linda) Snyder of Anamosa; 18 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; sister, Wilma Himbaugh; two brothers, Clarence and Willis; and one brother in infancy.
Memorials may be left in her honor to Zion American Lutheran Church or Anamosa Care Center.
