Frazier, Laura Jean
Laura Jean Frazier, 54, of 2706 220th Trl., Middle Amana, died Monday, Dec. 7, 2009, in the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, with her husband by her side after a courageous battle with liver cancer. Services will be held at a later date. Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Gregory Schminkey; a sister, Maggie Mae Smith of Phoenix, Ariz.; brother; sisters-in-laws; several nieces and nephews; and one great-nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister.
Laura was born June 25, 1955, in San Diego, Calif., the daughter of Aubert and Eloise Johnson Frazier. She married Gregory Schminkey on Nov. 1, 2007, in Victor, Iowa. She was an assembler for Whirlpool in Amana. She enjoyed gardening, reading and creating artwork. When she lived in Kansas she grew flowers to sell at the Farmers Market where she was known as the flower lady. Laura also enjoyed pets and was especially fond of her parrot.
Gregory would like to extend special thanks the staff at Mercy Medical Center and the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House to Mercy for the loving care they gave Laura.
