Henderson, Laura Ruth
Laura Ruth Henderson, 52, of Ely, passed away Monday, June 10, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, from a sudden illness. Celebration of Life will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 13, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Inurnment will be in Rogers Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Brosh Chapel.
Laura was born July 9, 1960, in Flint, Mich., the daughter of Donald and Charlotte (Glasco) Hayes. She graduated from the Lincoln Learning Center. She worked at Rockwell, Intermec Corporation and Webb Color Printers for many years.
Laura enjoyed going to drag races with her fiance, Brian Davis. Laura and Brian were to be united in marriage on Sept. 15, 2013. She had a tender and loving side for dogs. She would welcome them with an open heart and home. Laura was very dedicated and hard working, tending to her home, garden and being a loving friend.
Laura is survived by her fiance, Brian Davis of Ely; mother, Charlotte Graybill of Cedar Rapids; her siblings, Julie (Jim) Kimm of Shellsburg, Phillip (Marilyn) Hayes of Cedar Rapids, Denise (Ron) Dearborn of Newhall, and Pete Hayes and Steven Hayes, both of Cedar Rapids; numerous nieces and nephews; her dogs, Radar and Lilly; and her cats, Slingshot and Roadster.
She was preceded in death by father, Donald; and her stepfathers, Casper LeClere and William Graybill.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
