Nicola, Laura A.
Laura A. Nicola, 54, of Coralville, passed away at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics following a short illness on Oct. 3, 2012, with family and friends by her side. A gathering for family and friends to remember Laura will be held Sunday, Oct. 7, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Lensing's Oak Hill, 210 Holiday Rd., Coralville. Funeral services will held 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 8, at the funeral home.
Laura A. Nicola was born July 16, 1958, in Olney, Texas. She graduated from Prairie High School in 1976. She previously worked at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in housekeeping. She served in the Iowa Army National Guard, 234th Signal Battalion from 1977-1992. Laura married the love of her life, Robert Nicola, on March 10, 1990, in North Liberty.
Laura's passion was her love of all her friends and family. Bowling was a very important piece to Laura's life's puzzle. She also avidly loved collecting elephants, going fishing, camping, canoeing, working in her flowers and doing cross-stitch. She enjoyed spoiling all her nieces and nephews. She had a heart of gold and loved everyone who crossed her path.
Her family includes her husband, Robert; her mother and father, John and Edith Meyer of Walford; brothers and sisters, Allan (Kim) Richardson of Buchanan, Mich., Monica Claman of Rock Springs, Wyo., Deidre (Ron) Frett of Manchester, Michael Richardson of Kemmerer, Wyo., and Michelle (Mike) Burhite of Cedar Rapids; many nieces and nephews; and many, many friends, all who will miss her dearly.
A memorial fund has been established.
