STORM LAKE to ALGONA - RAGBRAI is now rolling across Iowa after leaving the Missouri River on Sunday.Riders got 68 miles under their belt on Sunday. Monday's ride was a bit longer at 79 miles. The cyclists started in Storm Lake, heading north and east to stop in Algona Monday night. TV9's John Campbell is riding with them. You've all heard about the food on RAGBRAI, from the pies to turkey wings to Pastafari. But about eight miles out of Plover today, we realized that a new treat was being cooked up. Hamballs.
A local church made and sold the treat from an old family recipe. Proceeds will go to fix the roof of the church that was blown off during a recent storm.
Judging from the happy customers, hamballs are a hit!
RAGBRAI riders will rise early Tuesday to pedal 60 miles from Algona to Clear Lake. You can track John Campbell's ride using GPS to see where he is on the route.
