Beatrice "Bea" Welch, 97, of Winona, Minn., formerly of Waukon, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, aunt and friend died Friday, July 25, 2014, in Winona. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon, with the Rev. Msgr. Ed Lechtenberg officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Lycurgus Cemetery, rural Waukon. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, where there will be a 3:45 p.m. Scripture service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to St Patrick's School (Waukon) Scholarship Fund, in honor of Bea's strong belief in education.
She is survived by her children, Colleen (Donald) Houser, Columbus, Ohio, Mary Jo (James) Hopfensperger, Bellevue, Neb., Marge Collins, Eyota, Minn., Cathie Logan, Winona, Minn., and Bill (Ellie Schulte) Collins, Merrimac, Wis.; 12 grandchildren; and soon to be 24 great-grandchildren.
