Eugene Cooley, 87, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died April 14, 2014, in a Mesa hospice
house. A celebration of life will be held in July 2014 in Cedar Rapids. Eugene will be buried in Manchester.
Survivors include his wife, Nadine Cooley; children, Carla Levi (Steve), Craig Cooley (Sherilyn) and Cathy Weber (Kirk); eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Born Feb. 20, 1927, in Manchester, Iowa, Eugene was married for 62 years to Nadine. He worked 30 years at Collins/Rockwell Collins as an application engineer, working on numerous NASA space program projects, including Gemini and Apollo.
He served in the U.S. Air Force as a Morse code operator. Gene enjoyed rock hunting, playing his keyboard and clarinet. He loved going on picnics and playing cards.
