Kenneth Eaton Vaughn, 98, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2014, at the Northbrook Manor Care Center. As were his wishes, he will be cremated and interred at Cedar Memorial Park
Cemetery.
Kenneth is survived by four children, Jacklyn
(Andy) Schmidt of Robins, Jim (Jan) Vaughn of Phoenix, Richard Vaughn of Las Vegas and Carol (Sean) Egan of Phoenix; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaret Ann; son, David; and brother, Gordon Vaughn.
Kenneth Eaton Vaughn was born June 13, 1915, to Roscoe and Gertrude
(Eaton) Vaughn in Iowa Falls, Iowa. He married Margaret Ann "Peggy" Smith on Oct. 9, 1939, at Niagara Falls. Kenneth had a long, successful career at Collins Radio Company (Rockwell Collins). He was proud of his working relationship with Arthur Collins, whom he greatly admired. Kenneth retired in 1972, and he and Peggy moved to Far Horizons East, a retirement community in Tucson. They lived together in Arizona, until Peggy passed away in 1993. Kenneth then returned to Iowa.
