Marie was born Nov. 20, 1922, in Oxford Junction,
Iowa, the daughter of Louis and Anna (Peckosh) Bisinger. She grew up in Oxford Junction, gradu-ating with the Oxford Junction High School class of 1940. She was united in marriage to John F. Petersen on May 19, 1942. He preceded her in death on March 3, 1988. They were blessed with five children, John L., Suzanne, Phillip, Timothy and Marty.
Before her husband's deployment to the Normandy Invasion, Marie accompanied him to Fort Knox, Ky., where she was employed at the Officers Club. She then returned to Oxford Junction until the end of World War II.
The family resided in Chicago, Maquoketa and Cascade before moving to Anamosa in 1958. Later in life, they resided in the Amana Colonies. Shortly after her husband's passing, Marie moved back to Anamosa.
Aside from being an avid card player, Marie enjoyed traveling, baking, dancing, visiting with friends and spending time with her family.
She attended St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Anamosa and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Oxford Junction. She was employed outside the home at Max Rays Jewelry, Maquoketa; Schupanitz Dental, Anamosa; St. Patrick's School, Anamosa; and Der Wein Keller, Main Amana.
Private burial services will be at Mayflower Cemetery in Oxford Junction at a later date.
Her life was fulfilling and full of joy. She spent her last two years in the Anamosa Care Center where she aged gracefully and with dignity. Please keep Marie in your thoughts and prayers.
