Carlyn Achenbach, 92, of Anamosa, passed away Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018, following a brief illness at the Donna and Dennis Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. In accordance with her wishes, a private service for immediate family will be held.
Carlyn Ida Mae Achenbach was born June 5, 1925, in Anamosa, Iowa. She was
the daughter of Carl and Elizabeth Michels Barnes. Carlyn was a 1943 graduate of Anamosa High School. On June 6, 1946, she was united in marriage to Arden Achenbach in Anamosa. Carlyn was a homemaker and helped Arden with his livestock trucking business. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Survivors include three sons, Gary (Jean) Achenbach of Boone, Carl (Mary) Achenbach of Anamosa and Randy (Rhonda) Achenbach of Marion; seven grandchildren, Brent (Julie) Achenbach, Sara Achenbach, Brian Achenbach, Christine (Joel) Miller, Daniel (Andrea) Achenbach, Rochelle Achenbach and Reed (Autumn) Achenbach; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Carlyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arden, in 2004; granddaughter, Julie Achenbach; brother, Merlin Barnes; and a sister, Mildred Behrens.
