Mead, Helen Marie
Helen Marie Mead, 95, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010, at Jones Regional Medical Center in Anamosa following an extended illness. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, at United Methodist Church in Anamosa. The Rev. Laurie Riley will officiate at the service. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Anamosa.

Surviving are her husband, Dean; a daughter, Judy (Delmar) Phillips of Anamosa; two sisters, Dorothy Sauer of Monticello and Freda Lawrence of Monticello; three grandchildren, Clinton (Denise) Phillips of Anamosa, Michelle (Mark) Nelson of Marion and Mark Phillips of Marion; five great-grandchildren; three stepdaughters, Bernna Deane Hawkins of Victor, Kay (Randall) Betz of Marengo and Jane Roehs of Cedar Rapids; and many stepgrand- and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Ricklefs; and three brothers, Merle, Robert and Donald Hart.
Helen Marie Mead was born June 4, 1914, in Buffalo Township in Linn County. She was the daughter of Howard and Maude Anderson Hart. She graduated from Anamosa High School. On Dec. 2, 1932, Helen and John Ricklefs were united in marriage in Anamosa. Helen spent many years helping her husband John on the family farm. John passed away Dec. 9, 1978. Helen later married Dean Mead on Feb. 6, 1981, in Hiawatha, Iowa.
Helen was a loving wife, mother, grandma and great-grandma and she will be missed dearly by those closest to her.
