Darvin T. Hardersen,
96, of Anamosa, passed away Monday, March 7, 2016, at the Anamosa Care Center. A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 11, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Anamosa. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. The Rev. Katie Lowe Lancaster will officiate. Burial will be at Antioch Cemetery in rural Anamosa at a later date.
Darvin Thomas Hardersen was born Jan. 8, 1920, to Thomas and Marie Hoss Hardersen, in Clinton, Iowa. He graduated from Gooselake in 1937. His family moved to Jones County in 1938 to the present farm where he farmed his entire life. Darvin was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Zirkelbach on Oct. 16, 1945, in Scotch Grove. She preceded him in death in 2008.
Darvin was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, the Jones County Farm Bureau, Jones County Cattlemen and Jones County Extension. He also was inducted into the Jones County Cattlemen Hall of Fame. He bowled for 60 years, until he was 91 years old, and was a member of the Anamosa Bowling Hall of Fame. He was a member of the Anamosa Baseball Team as well as the Anamosa Golden Gloves Boxing Team. Darvin enjoyed life, visiting with friends and neighbors and playing cards.
He is survived by his son, Don (Debbie) Hardersen of Anamosa; granddaughter, Stephanie (Wayne) Hora; and grandson, Lee Hardersen; great-grandchildren, Tysen and Danielle Gravel and Kael Hora; sister, Dorothy Gray; sister-in-law, Patsy Hardersen; many nieces and nephews; and he also leaves behind a special friend, Betty Lubben.
Darvin was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth; brother, Philbert Hardersen; and brother-in-law, Robert Gray.
