Dearborn, Donald L.
Donald L. Dearborn, 82, of Minneapolis, Minn., formerly of Anamosa, died Monday, Nov. 30, 2009 in St. Therese Nursing Home, New Hope, Minn. Services: noon Saturday, First United Congregational Church of Christ, 107 E. First St., Anamosa, with the Rev. Michael Williams officiating. Burial:
Riverside Cemetery, Anamosa. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the church.
Survivors include a daughter, Jill Siewert; a brother, Pat Dearborn of Anamosa; a sister, Patty Kehoe of Anamosa; a son-in-law, Jeff Siewert; two granddaughters, Sally and Stacy, all of Plymouth, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Jean in 2006; parents; sisters, Maxine Porter, Elizabeth Dearborn, Jo Jackson and Jean Thomsen; and a brother, Bobby.
Don was born June 5, 1927, in Stone City, the son of George F. and Tressa Doherty Dearborn. He was a graduate of Anamosa High School class of 1945. He married Florence Jean Buckner on Feb. 19, 1949. They lived in Anamosa and he was the owner/manager of the Conoco Service station.
He was active in his church, First Congregational United Church of Christ, served on the Anamosa City Council, Jaycees and Masonic Lodge.
In 1960, they moved to Ocala, Fla., where he was the owner/manager of Dearborn Shell Service. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ocala. He loved golf and was active in the Ocala Men's Golf Association and was a past president.
In 1977, they returned to Cedar Rapids, where he was manger of Cedar Manufacturing. In 1991, they moved back to Anamosa, and retired shortly after. He enjoyed volunteering his time, golfing and times with family and friends. In 2005, they moved to Plymouth, Minn., to be closer to daughter, Jill.
