Miller, James Edward
James Edward Miller, 73, of Anamosa, died Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 16, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Anamosa. Father Wayne Droessler will officiate at the service. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa, with a Scripture service at 7:45 p.m. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Anamosa.
Surviving are his wife, Sandy; two sons, Mike (Jan) Miller of Anamosa and David (Kim) Miller of Anamosa; three grandchildren, Amber Miller of Columbus, Ohio, Kim (Luke) Baker of Creston, Iowa and Chris Miller of Anamosa; a brother, Joe (Eva) Miller of Colton, Calif.; his sisters, Madelyn Lane of Upland, Calif., Mary (Grover) Lorenzen of Olin, Velma Danneman of Monticello and Katie Prull of Visalia, Calif.; and a sister-in-law, Sharon Weber of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers-in-law, Morris Lane, Dale Danneman, Ralph Prull and Tom Weber.
James Edward Miller was born July 29, 1937, in Anamosa, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Bonnie (Shaw) Miller. Jim attended Anamosa Schools. Jim served his country in the United States Army, serving with the Transportation Corps. Later Jim worked for Universal Engineering Corporation for 27 years as a service representative traveling around the United States.
Jim enjoyed traveling, but the thing he treasured most was the time he was given to spend with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be missed dearly by those who knew him best.
