Steven R. Whiting, 67, of Jefferson, Wis., passed away unexpectedly at his home on June 30, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 9, at Schneider-Michaelis Funeral Home in Jefferson. Visitation: 1:30 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home in Jefferson. Burial, with military honors, will take place at 3 p.m. Monday, July 10, at Shueyville Cemetery in Shueyville. Local arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Steven was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on July 26, 1949, to Robert and Helen (Bowersox) Whiting. He graduated from Racine Horlick High School in 1967. He then served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War from 1970 to 1972 aboard the USS Joseph Hughes.
He is survived by his brothers, Scott (Maureen) Whiting of Kingwood, Texas, and Thomas (Linda) Whiting of Lake Mills, Wis.; nieces and nephews, Bryan (Michelle) Whiting, Miranda Whiting, Nick (Tori) Whiting and Noah Whiting; and one great-niece, Tegan Whiting.
