Robert M. Evans, 91, of West Jordan, Utah, died peacefully in his sleep on June 1, 2017, with his wife of 70-plus years at his bedside.
Robert Milton Evans was born April 19, 1926, in Faribault, Minn., to John and Grace (Barney) Evans. Following graduation he joined the Marines, serving in the Pacific (Okinawa) during World War II. He married Lila Larson on July 25, 1946.
Bob was a professional baker, starting his career at Federal Bake Shop in Iowa, moving to North Dakota and back to Iowa. He retired from Barlows/Randalls in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. To satisfy his "inner farmer," he was a part-time landscaper for Cedar Rapids Nursery, owned by Dwight and Ralph Hughes.
Bob and Lila lived in Cedar Rapids for many years. They were charter members of Hope Lutheran Church. Bob played recreational softball.
Survivors include daughters, Cindy Rossman and Dena (Jeff) Steggall; grandchildren, Cody (Melissa) Rossman, Jeff, Rob (Talene) and Sammie Steggall; and great-grandsons, Evan and Cutter Rossman.
