Bolger takes over at Regina

IOWA CITY -- This time, no makeover is necessary.
Matt Bolger, who made renovations at two losing programs, has been hired as girls' basketball coach at Regina High School, pending board approval.
"I wanted to be a head coach again," said Bolger, 33, who has spent the last three seasons as an assistant at Mount Mercy University. "The last two jobs I had were complete rebuilds. This time, I'll be starting with a winner, with the hopes of making it even better."
A Marengo native, Bolger turned around his alma mater, taking Iowa Valley from a one-win program to a South Iowa Cedar League championship in two years. He was 43-48 at Iowa Valley from 2005 through 2008, then turned another losing program around at St. Louis Bishop Du Bourg.
Bolger succeeds Clark Anderson, who stepped down in April.
Regina was 18-6 last season and has won or shared conference or divisional titles each of the last six years. The Regals have a 133-29 record in that span.
Top returning players for 2014-15 include Hannah Stein and Kennedy Brown.
"I'm excited to get started," Bolger said. "We've got a good nucleus, and we're ready to build off the success that Clark had."
