Anna Jean Harris, 85, died peacefully Monday, June 6, 2016, at Marietta's Place in Manchester.
The sixth of seven children, she was born near Earlville to parents Andrew and Anna Grawe Miller on Oct. 2, 1930. Raised on the family farm north of Manchester, Anna Jean graduated from Manchester High School and attended cosmetology college in Waterloo.
Anna Jean was united in marriage to Russell Dean Harris on Sept. 16, 1950. Three children were born to this union.
Anna Jean was dedicated to her Catholic faith, loved the game of golf and enjoyed playing bridge. Her greatest joy was time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Julie (David) Johnson of Cedar Rapids and Jane (Rusty) Jones of Manchester, and her son, Tom Harris (Jodi Fleming) of Willowbrook, Ill. Grandchildren include Zach (Kim) Johnson, Gabriel (Stacey) Johnson, Maria (Doug) Drees, Blake (Jill) Jones, Jennifer (Macabe) Schmidt, Rachel (Gabriel) Ellis, Maggie Harris and Taylor Fleming. Her great-grandchildren are Will, Wyatt and Abby Jane Johnson, Julia and Declan Drees, Ada and Beckett Jones, Brecken and Camden Schmidt and Rowen Ellis. Her sister, Mary Lou Lemmon, of Manchester, and brother, Andrew Miller, of Arlington Heights, Ill., and numerous nieces and nephews also survive her.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and four brothers, Herbert, Delmar, Leon and James Miller.
Unless specified, memorials will go to the Zach Johnson Foundation and Meadows Assisted Living and Marietta's Place in Manchester.
