Bear, Shirley A.
MARION - Shirley A. Bear, 74, of Marion, went home to be with the Lord Jesus Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010, after a long illness. Services: 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, by the Rev. C.W. Slayton. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, the Rev. Del Bear; a daughter, Karen (Kevin) Hauskins; a son, Butch (Teresa) Bear; three grandsons, Don (Charlotte) Hauskins, Jeremy (Angela) Hauskins and Randy Bear; three great-grandchildren, Hana, Jackson and Beckett; a sister, Barbara Hughes; and a nephew, Mark Hughes.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Don Hughes.
Shirley was born Aug. 23, 1936, the daughter of Harry and Thelma Hughes, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Shirley loved the Lord and everyone else. If she could help in any way, she would. She served in the ministry with Del for 35 years and was a member of the Marion Free Methodist Church. Shirley was a very generous, loving, and compassionate person. She loved her family deeply. She loved the Lord first, her children and grandchildren, and loved her country very much. She was extremely patriotic. Shirley was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed, but we know she is in Heaven with the Lord.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Shirley's memory.
