Kevin Royal Hughes, 57, of Cedar Rapids, rode joyfully on his Harley to the great beyond Wednesday,
July 16, 2014, at his home. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at Teahen Funeral Home by Chaplain Brian Reeves. Inurnment: St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may visit from 9 a.m. until time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
Kevin is survived by his sister, Deb Lekin of Cedar Rapids; several nieces and nephews; longtime staff and friend, Ed Bents; guardian, Cindy Schile; and various housemates and dedicated staff who have worked with him during his 33 years at Discovery Living.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Lauryl Ronnenberg.
Kevin was born Dec. 13, 1956, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Royal and Dorothea Maudsley Hughes. Kevin worked at Options of Linn County for over 30 years before enjoying a life of leisure at Milestones in Marion.
Kevin enjoyed fishing, camping, motorcycles, pizza, hamburgers, shakes, music and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
