McClintock, James R.
James R. McClintock, 79, of Morley, died Saturday, June 25, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
A celebration of his life service will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2011, at 7 p.m. at Lahey Funeral Home in Olin, where friends may call on Thursday from 2 to 7 p.m. Private graveside services will be in the Greene Center Cemetery, Morley, Iowa, with military honors.
James Russell McClintock was born March 4, 1932, in New Lexington, Ohio, to Claude and Mary (Kasler) McClintock. He graduated from Somerset High School in Somerset, Ohio. He was a sergeant with the Marines serving during the Korean War. He was an industries technician for Anamosa Men's Reformatory in Anamosa for 20 years, retiring in 1997. He was a member of the Jones County Radio Club, Morley Community Club, Morley First United Methodist Church and the Anamosa AMVETS Post #110.
James was mayor in Morley for 10 years and served on the city council.
James was united in marriage to Hazel E. Herzmann on February 27, 1954, in Strawberry Point, Iowa.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel McClintock of Morley; five children, Dennis McClintock of Mount Pleasant, Linda McClintock of Cedar Rapids, Mary (Perry) Horne of San Mateo, Fla., Jo Ann Gardner of Dallas, Texas, and Eric (Shauna) McClintock of Ely; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Barbara Holden of New Lexington, Ohio, Fern (Tim) Romine of Zanesville, Ohio, Sharon (Kenneth) Carney of Somerset, Ohio, and Donna (Earl) Kane of Lancaster, Ohio; and two brothers, Charles Bruce McClintock of Garnavillo, Iowa, and Doug (Rhonda) McClintock of New Lexington, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; and one brother, Fred.
