Christophersen, Mark S. 'Nutty'
Mark S. “Nutty” Christophersen, 58, of Davenport, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011, at University of Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 17, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oxford Junction. Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Lahey Funeral Home in Oxford Junction, where a rosary will be held at 5 p. m. Burial will be in Dayton Valley Cemetery, rural Clarence.
Mark was born April 10, 1952, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of John and Frances “Betty” (Rouse) Christophersen. He graduated from Clarence High School and attended Upper Iowa University, and was a member of Foxes fraternity. On Oct. 29, 1977, he married Sally Doermann in Oxford Junction. They divorced in 1994. Mark worked in the construction trade and owned and operatedChristophersen Concrete Co. in Davenport.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Davenport, where he was a youth coach for the Holy Family youth basketball team. He enjoyed golf, camping, fishing, canoeing and being outdoors. He had a great sense of humor and would put a smile on everyone's face with whom he came in contact. He had a positive outlook through his
courageous battle with his illness.
Mark is survived by his children, Amanda Christophersen and Beth Christophersen of Davenport and Jake Christophersen of Cedar Rapids; one grandson, Joseph Christophersen; his father, John Christophersen of Clarence; one sister, Jane (Jim) Goggin of El Cajon, Calif.; and one brother, Scott (Jennifer) Christophersen of Iowa City.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty in 2005; and one brother, Timothy Christophersen DVM in 1979.
