Windmon, Bharati M.

Bharati M. Windmon, 19, of Iowa City, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, from injuries from a car accident.Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, at the Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Funeral services and burial will take place in Chicago on Saturday.

A memorial fund has been established in Bharati's memory.

Bharati was born Oct. 31, 1992, in Chicago, the daughter of Dennis Mattox and Brenda Windmon. She and her family moved to Iowa City nearly seven years ago where she attended Iowa City Schools, graduating from City High School with the Class of 2011. She was currently enrolled at Kirkwood Community College.

Her family includes her mother, Brenda of Iowa City; father, Dennis of Chicago; sisters, Tiara Jones and Takayla Windmon; grandparents, Betty Jones, Samuel Windmon Sr. and Vanessa Windmom; an uncle, Gregory Windmon; numerous aunts, cousins, a niece, a nephew; and and her best friend, Tyara Hamilton.

She was preceded in death by her uncle, Samuel R. Windmon Jr.; and stepgrandfather, James Jones.
