Rhoda J. Trefz, 76, a resident of Davenport, formerly of Coggon, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015, at Genesis Medical Center, East Rusholme, Davenport. Funeral services to celebrate her life will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 1, at Zion Presbyterian Church, 110 N. Third St., Coggon. Burial will take place in Coggon Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 1 until 2 p.m. at the church before the service.
Memorials may be made to Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Rhoda Jean Henderson was born Oct. 13, 1938, in Manchester, Iowa, a daughter of W.T. "Tom" Henderson and Helen Jean (Merritt) Henderson Peyton. She was raised in Coggon and was the first homecoming queen at Coggon High School, where she graduated from in 1957. She was united in marriage to Billie J. Trefz Jr. on June 1, 1957, in Coggon. Billie preceded Rhoda in death on Aug. 6, 1990.
Rhoda is survived by her children and their spouses, Jeffrey (Tricia) Trefz, Reno, Nev., Amy Brotzman, Dubuque, Lori Chriswell, Davenport, Jerry (Rosa) Trefz, Dubuque, and Trisha (Tony) Nazarenus, Davenport; a sister, Sherry (Ralph Dickson) Zumbrunnen, Phoenix; and a brother, Joseph (Sandy) Henderson, Coggon.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Billie; her parents; a sister, Karen Crowley; a great-grandson, Maddox; and her dear friend, Leroy Kinley.
