Loving wife and mother, Patricia Jones passed on Sept. 24, 2014, from complications of Lyme disease, which led to a fall at her home in Cedar Rapids.
Patricia was born in Davenport on Dec. 10, 1949. She graduated from Iowa State University and Kansas State University, with a master's degree in counseling. Patricia was a counselor in Wichita, Kan., as well as Cedar Rapids.
She devoted her life to her husband, Thomas; and her daughter, Katherine Jones (fiance, Carmon Rote).
Patricia was director of the Cedar Rapids chapter of the Lyme Disease Association (LDUC), and suffered many years from the illness. She and her family were featured in The Gazette regarding the dangers of Lyme disease.
Patricia is survived by her husband, Thomas, and her daughter, Katherine Jones (fiance, Carmon Rote), both of Cedar Rapids. Patricia also is survived by her loving mother, June Gerard of Dubuque; and siblings who mourn the passing of their sister, James, Karen, Julie and Colleen.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Gerard; infant children, Sarah and Shawn; and granddaughter, Taylor Marie Rote Jones.
Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, 1844 First Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids, with a rosary at 4 p.m. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 857 Third Ave. SE, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Christopher Podhajsky. Interment: Lafayette Cemetery, rural Alburnett.
