Max E. Jones was born May 10, 1955, in Washington, Iowa, the son of David E Jones and Betty E. (Hiller) Jones. He had spent his entire lifetime in this area. Max married Raquel Hebl on May 5, 1990, in West Branch.
Max enjoyed many things in life, his music, camping, fishing, boating, and NASCAR. In fact some might say he was consumed by NASCAR, “always making left turns!”
He lived to make others smile, and when he did, that was it! And of course, he loved his family, and all his family's friends, and their families, he was one of those guys you enjoyed being with no matter what.
His family includes his wife, Raquel; son, Joey Fountain (Lacey Thompson) of Mount Vernon, Ind.; daughters, Shuwana Yancey (James) of Ponchatoula, La., Katie Jones (Cody Brecht) of Oasis, Iowa and Rita Jones (Alex Greer) of West Branch; grandchildren, Becca, Shawn and Joel Yancey and Nicky Jones; brothers, Bob Jones (Stacy) of Cedar Rapids, Randy Jones (Ann) of Kellogg, Iowa and John Jones of Texarkana, Ark.; sisters, Carolyn Swank (Wayne) of Kismet, Kan., Hattie Behrens (Dave) of Harlan, Iowa, Ramona Vanderah (Butch) of Shreveport, La., and Nancy Jones of Keokuk; two who respected and looked to him as a father are Chris "Bud" Wahl and Mikey Jones; and of course his companion, PeeWee.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ron Jones; and grandson, Caleb Yancey.
