Shirley was born in 1933, in Davenport, to Harry and Gladys Schroeder. She married Norman Dean on April 15, 1955, in Independence, Iowa. Shirley was a registered nurse for several years at St. Luke's Hospital and also was a member of the Lions Club, The Red Hat Society and Christ Family Church. She enjoyed dogs, sewing, crossword puzzles, reading, traveling and cooking. She also was a St. Louis Cardinals and Iowa Hawkeyes fan, but her biggest joy was her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Norm of Davenport; daughter, Patricia (Tom) Kendall of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; son, Daniel (Vickie) Dean of Waukee, Iowa; grandchildren, Nate, Natalie, Claire, Zach, Chelsea, Jordan and Ashley; and five great-grandchildren; and her sister, Evonne Fisher Welp, Round Rock, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Rebecca McMillen.
The family would especially like to thank the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Ariz., and her many friends from the Lions Club.
