Carlson, Nancy E.
Nancy E. Carlson, 93, of 1500 First Ave. North, Coralville, died Saturday, May 29, 2010, at Mercy Hospice in Iowa City. Nancy chose cremation. A celebration of her life will be held Friday at 4 p.m. at Coralville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Doug Williams and the Rev. Jennifer Seylar officiating. The family will greet friends after 3 p.m. Friday at the church. A full meal will be served at the church following the service. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery, Davenport, on June 19.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to The Nancy E. Carlson Memorial Fund.
She was born June 18, 1916, in Davenport, the daughter of Arno F. and Charlotte (Morgan) Emeis. She graduated from Davenport High School in 1934 and attended Augustana College. Nancy then graduated from the American Institute of Commerce in Davenport. She was a bookkeeper and administrative secretary at the Davenport Public Library.
She married Robert C. Radden on Sept. 3, 1938, in Davenport. The couple divorced in 1947. On July 3, 1964, Nancy married Leonard A. Carlson in Davenport. The couple divorced in 1995. She was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church in Davenport, where she volunteered many hours. Nancy enjoyed a passion for home decorating, cooking and playing bridge, but above all, spending time with her grandchildren, who were dear to her.
She was also a member of the Quad City Book Club and PEO. Nancy moved to Coralville in 2007 to be closer to family and attended Coralville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her daughters: Kathe E. Gannon of Coralville and her son, Ian Gannon; and Karna Greaser and her husband, J. Newton, of River Falls, Wis., and their children, Kirk Greaser (Lois), their children, Madelyn and Zachary; Kevin Greaser; and Kristin Bahr (Markus) and their children, Gretchen and Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
