Rose I. Van Hoven, 96, formerly of Iowa City, died Sept. 1, 2014, at a care center in Cedar Rapids.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her memory.

Rose Irene Thoreson was born June 3, 1918, in Ruthven, Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Anna (Thompson) Thoreson. She married Edward W. Van Hoven on Aug. 11, 1940, in Spirit Lake, Iowa. The couple raised their family in Spencer, where they lived for many years before moving to Iowa City.
Her family includes her two daughters and their husbands, Sharon Carter (Irl) of White Bear Lake, Minn., and Peg Pangborn (Tom) of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren, Kirsten Carter (Matt Hemenway), Charles McConnell (Lisa), James McConnell, Juli Carter, Jaimen Pangborn and Jenelle Pangborn; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; her son, Steve Van Hoven; and 11 brothers and sisters.
