Carter, Alfred James 'Bud' Jr.
Alfred James “Bud” Carter Jr., 84, died Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, at his home in West Liberty. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday Nov. 15, at the First Church United in West Liberty. Burial will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty.
A memorial fund has been established.

Bud was born June 3, 1929, in West Liberty, the son of Alfred and Gladys Watkins Carter. He was a graduate of West Liberty High School. On June 22, 1962, he was united in marriage to Mary Patterson Hudson.
He was a skilled tool and die maker worker for Schmarje in Muscatine, G.E. and Oral B in Iowa City. He enjoyed his time with family at his cabin on the Cedar River, fishing and boating. He was a handyman and was always tinkering with something, auto mechanics and putting together and fixing computers.
He is survived by four stepchildren, Sherry Hudson Grable (Wayne Hartwig) of Solon, Terry (Ramonne) Hudson of Davie, Fla., Robert (Mary) Hudson of Fairfax and James Hudson of Iowa City; four grandchildren, Heather (Ray) Carrizales, Marcy (Kurt) Weber, Eric Hudson and Sonia Hudson; six great-grandchildren, Maya, Cole, Ava and Cade Carrizales and Whitney and Kalli Weber; brother, Robert (Dorothy) Carter of Melbourne, Fla.; sister, Donna (Wendell) Johnson of Springfield, Mo.; and brother-in-law, Rex Swails of Coralville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary in October 2012; and sister, Jean Swails.
