Epping, Elaine A.
Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Elaine A. Epping, 78, a resident of Davenport, will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 14, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Davenport. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 until 5 p.m. at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main St., Davenport, IA 52803, where a prayer service will be offered at 5 p.m. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Mrs. Epping passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at Genesis Medical Center, West Central Park, Davenport.
Elaine Anne Hamann was born June 16, 1931, a daughter of Ralph and Sophie (Paustian) Hamann, in Davenport. She was united in marriage to James J. Epping on Nov. 28, 1953, at St. Mary's in Davenport. He preceded her in death on Sept. 6, 1994.
Elaine was an active member of Holy Family Church and school. She had served lunches at the school for over 28 years. She was also a member of Daughters of Isabella and St. Theresa Society. Elaine had volunteered for many years in the gift shop at Genesis as a Pink Lady with the ladies auxiliary.
Survivors include her children and their spouses: her two daughters, Kathleen Epping, Milwaukee, Wis., and Mary Epping, Davenport; her five sons, Gregory Epping and Connie Kokontis, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Tim and Kaye Murray Epping, Davenport, Jeffery and Donna Epping, Carmel, Ind., Dennis and Dawn Epping, Richardson, Texas, and Anthony Epping, Ankeny, Iowa; and her seven beloved grandchildren, Kristin, Hilary, A.J., Renee, Stephen, Kenny and Erin.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents. May they rest in peace.
Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Care Facility, Davenport, Iowa.
