Carter, Du Wayne Stacy
Du Wayne Stacy Carter, 64, of Cedar Rapids, died in the loving care of his family and the hospice angels at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Wednesday, July 28, 2010, after a year long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Teahen Funeral Home by the Rev. Clyde Bailey. Burial: Spring Grove Cemetery with military services by the American Legion Post No 727. Per Du Wayne's request, the casket will be closed. Friends may visit from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday and after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Du Wayne is survived by his wife, Joyce; a daughter, Tracy (Jeff) Clark of Ely; a son, Michael (Kerry Chamberlain) of Vinton; grandchildren, Danielle (Shorty), Colin and Elyssa (Lil Bit); two sisters, Shirley (Jerry) Bell of Cedar Rapids, and Veronica (Dan) Wilson of Belle Plaine; and two brothers, Dean (Rita) and Darrel Carter, both of Marion.
His parents preceded him in death.
Du Wayne was born Jan. 20, 1946, in Belle Plaine, the son of Stacy and Josephine Jansen Carter. He married Joyce Severson on Jan. 22, 1972, in Marion. He was a former employee of Wilson Foods and an Army veteran of Vietnam.
Du Wayne loved his wife, children, family and above all his grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, hunting for mushrooms and searching out great bargains.
Instead of flowers memorials may be directed to Hospice House of Mercy.
