Joyce Evelyn Carter, 72,
of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2018, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy surrounded by her family. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Teahen Funeral Home by Chaplain Joe Kane. Burial: Spring Grove Cemetery, Covington. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Joyce is survived by her daughter, Tracy (Jeff) Clark of Ely; her son, Michael (Kerry) Carter of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Danielle and Colin Clark, both of Ely, and Elyssa and Jase Carter, both of Cedar Rapids; her brother, David St. John of Los Angeles, Calif.; and her beloved dogs, Kane and Anook.
She was preceded in death by her husband, DuWayne, in 2010; her parents; and her sister, Carol Reilly.
Joyce was born July 29, 1946, in La Crosse, Wis., the daughter of Milton and Eleanor Menke Severson. She married DuWayne Carter on Jan. 22, 1972, in Marion. Joyce worked as a line inspector for Rockwell Collins for 48 years.
Joyce loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to Camp Courageous.
