Carter, Lois M.
Lois M. Carter, 86, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012, at Mercy Hospice in Iowa City. A Celebration of Life will take place from 3 to 5 p.m., with services beginning at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, at the West Liberty Community Center.
Lois was born Sept. 4, 1925, in West Liberty, the daughter of Earl and Adeline Ohl Eves. She graduated from West Liberty High School in 1943 and later attended business school in Rock Island, Ill. She was united in marriage to Vernon Carter on April 21, 1946.
Lois was a member of the United Methodist Church in Nichols and then later in West Liberty. She was a 4-H leader and would also help work the polls on Election Day. Lois enjoyed reading, golf and was an avid bridge player.
She is survived by her three children, Cheryl Carter of Biscayne Park, Fla., Jeff (Marty) Carter of Iowa City and Lynne Carter of Nashville, Tenn.; her two grandchildren, Shawn Carter of Nashville, Tenn., and Chase Carter of Coralville; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vernon; and brother, William Eves.
A memorial fund has been established.
