Surviving are three children, Randy Clark, Rick (Cheryl) Clark and Martha (Joe) Welsch, all of Monticello; seven grandchildren, Brandon, Haley and Cody Clark, Jacob Clark, Brooke Clark, Nathan and Kellie Welsch; two great-grandchildren, Kaelynn and Dexter Clark; six siblings, Michael (Sharon) Chapman of Manchester, Virginia (Dennis) Ortgies, Eleanor "Ellie" (Larry) Bronemann, Patricia (Roger) Brighton and Steve Chapman, all of Monticello, and Thomas Chapman of San Diego, Calif.; and her sister-in-law, Marge Chapman, Manchester.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Homer; her son, Ron "Moe" Clark, in 2013; and her brother, Courtland "Chip" Chapman.
Clara Chapman was born July 29, 1939, at John McDonald Hospital, Monticello, Iowa, the daughter of Paul and Martha Robertson Chapman. Clara graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School with the class of 1957. She then worked as a waitress at the Monty Cafe. In 1963, Clara Chapman, Monticello, met and married Homer Clark, when his road construction job brought him to Monticello – a marriage that lasted 41 years until Homer's death in January 2005.
Clara provided day care in her home for many years. She worked 20 years at Schultz Brothers Variety Store and later at the dime store. Clara also worked for the city of Monticello in the Parks and Recreation Department. She had currently been working at Above and Beyond Home Health Care.
Clara loved all sports, from NASCAR to soccer; if it was on, she would watch it. She never missed a Hawkeye game or the Cubs.
Many family members will be kept warm by the afghans she lovingly made.
The family would like to thank the Monticello Ambulance Service and Above and Beyond Hospice for all the care they provided Clara.
