Clark, Kessler 'Kess'
Kessler “Kess” Clark, 78, died Friday, July 29, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids from complications of pneumonia. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 1, at Phillips Family Center, 605 Second Ave., Vinton, with Pastor Lanette Sue Van officiating. Interment will be held at the Brandon Cemetery. Friends may call at the Family Center from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Kessler W. Clark was born July 21, 1933, at Brandon, to Milfred and Mae (Brallier) Clark, and graduated from Brandon High School in 1950. On July 8, 1951, he was united in marriage to Berniece Towne at Brandon. Kess farmed in the Brandon area and was a longtime member of the Brandon Volunteer Fire Department.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, playing Bingo and trips to the casinos with his wife Berniece. Kess truly loved visiting with people.
In addition to his wife, Berniece of Brandon, he is survived by his sons, Rodney (Cindy) Clark of Brandon, Tony (Linda) Clark of Brandon and Rory (Becky) Clark of La Porte City; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and two brothers, Stanley (Judy) Clark of Independence and Herbert (Nikki) Clark of La Porte City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Brian Lee Clark in 1992; two sisters and two brothers.
A memorial fund has been established.
