Five people charged after shots fired at I.C. nightclub

IOWA CITY -- Iowa City police say they seized three handguns and arrested five people after responding to a report of shots fired at the Caliente Night Club and Bar early Saturday morning.
According to a news release, officers were investigating noise complaints at the club, 171 Hwy 1 W., when three gunshots were fired at about 1:14 a.m. Saturday. Witnesses said they saw a black male leaning out of a sports utility vehicle fire the handgun toward the south side of the bar.
The vehicle sped off, and officers found evidence that shots were fired, the release said. No one was hurt.
At 1:49 a.m., the news release said, officers stopped a silver Lincoln Navigator similar to the description of the sports utility vehicle.
Officers seized three handguns, one of which was reported stolen from Washington County, the release said.
Police identified the five occupants and various criminal charges have been filed:
Dominque Marcellus Clegg, 22, of Burlington, was charged with Possession of a Firearm as a Felon (Class D Felony), Carrying a Concealed Weapon (Aggravated Misdemeanor), Keeping or Permitting use of Drugs in a Vehicle (Aggravated Misdemeanor), Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance (Serious Misdemeanor), Possession of Stolen Property (Serious Misdemeanor). According to the Johnson County jail, he was bonded out of jail on an approximately $11,000 bond.
• Elijah James Pickens, 21, of Burlington, was charged with Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance (Serious Misdemeanor) and Possession of Alcohol under the Legal Age. According to the jail, he was released on his own recognizance.
• Dewayne Lenoir Jr., 22, of Burlington, was charged with Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance (Serious Misdemeanor), Carrying a Concealed Weapon (Aggravated Misdemeanor), and Possession of Stolen Property (Serious Misdemeanor). According to the jail, he was bonded out of jail on an approximately $4,000 bond.
• Giovani Denario Timmons, 21, of Burlington, was charged with Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance (Serious Misdemeanor). According to the jail, he was released on his own recognizance.
• Timothy Leture Chew, 21, of Burlington, was charged with Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance (Serious Misdemeanor), Carrying a Concealed Weapon (Aggravated Misdemeanor), and Possession of Stolen Property (Serious Misdemeanor). According to the jail, he was bonded out of jail on a $4,000 bond.
